As the world mourns the late, great Dame Elizabeth Taylor, we are reminded of her most incredible fashion moments. Swathed in extravagant dresses, dripping in diamonds and accessorising with one of her many husbands, the actress became a timeless style-setter and the epitome of Hollywood glamour.

Here she is in 1952 at the tender age of 21, flaunting that raven-haired, violet-eyed, red-lipped beauty and teeny tiny waist, which sealed her sex symbol status. At five foot two, she was 'short, extremely curvaceous and not as easy to dress as Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn,' admitted costumer Edith Head who was a close friend.

And then came the thigh-flashing! In the swinging 60s, she invested in many a babydoll dress, which she wore with elegant heels to make the most of those toned pins and of course, a magnificent hair-banded bouffant.
