Navajo = color to your wardrobe

I love adding color to an outfit but sometimes find block color boring and certain color prints do not work for me (being curvy an' all). And so finally I have found a new/old trend to add to the wardrobe; Navajo.

Navajo is the name of the second largest native American tribe which at a later stage mixed with the Spanish. Hence the Navajo fashion is a mix of Indian, Aztec and Mexican print, color and design.

Of course being 2011, wearing ponchos and thick materials was not the way to go forward but a retake on print, color and design was.

I spotted a few Navajo pieces late last year in London (but of course). I had clocked on that it was going to be the summer look but now of course it is everywhere

I personally cannot get enough of it as it is a look that is "in" yet can be adapted to any style: 80s tasseled t shirts, ethnic belts, headbands and waistcoat or funky over sized t shirts.

And for those of you who have no clue what I am on about, here's the pics:

Goss, J

On my continued mission to share the talent I have come across in LA, I am pleased to introduce my friend Jannette Goss, designer and creator of clothing brand Goss, J.

I briefly met Jannette in L.A last summer and had no idea that she was such a talented and ambitious designer.  Now that I am permanently in LA, I have had the opportunity to experience Jannette's work from ideas, design and creation. With the privilege of even trying on her samples.

Born and raised in L.A, Jannette completed a BA in fashion design at the Art Institute of California-Hollywood last summer. Whilst her brand Goss, J focuses on modern vintage, the key to Goss, J is her focus on 70's inspiration.

Below is a sneak peek to the soon to be SS2011 jumpsuit collection:

Yes this is in fact a jumpsuit which cleverly looks like a crop top and trousers from the front (my order has already been put in).

You can contact Jannette and follow her work on Facebook via

And here is the lovely Jannette herself

Coachella fashion

Ok, so after some serious lack of blogging I am back and on a summer high with soooo many topics to write about.

So first off, what everyone is talking about; Coachella.

Sadly being unsure of my where abouts when the tickets came out I then missed out as they sold like hot cakes within the first 2 hrs of being online. loser.com indeed and it seems like everyone I know went and yes yes, this year was better than ever. 2012 will be the year I am no longer a Coachella virgin.

In Britain we are spoilt for festivals: Glasto, V, Wireless, SW4, Lovebox... all held throughout the summer. Whilst the artist line ups are pretty much set in stone, the English weather is however not. Making the oh so difficult task of finding the perfect festival outfit.

And yes, we all know that as well as the music, the outfit is equally as important to many along with the signature stunners, headband, redstripe and ciggie.

So here are some of my fave Coachella fashion pics avec cut off denim shorts, maxi skirts, jumpsuits and cropped tees galore.

As I go through literally hundreds of pictures online I wonder to myself if I will ever get bored of style hunting, then I shake my head and say never!

Elizabeth Taylor: Her Best Dressed Moments

Here she is in 1952 at the tender age of 21, flaunting that raven-haired, violet-eyed, red-lipped beauty and teeny tiny waist, which sealed her sex symbol status. At five foot two, she was 'short, extremely curvaceous and not as easy to dress as Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn,' admitted costumer Edith Head who was a close friend.

Arriving at New York International Airport with fellow actresses Grace Kelly and Lorraine Day in 1955.

Elizabeth's on-screen style....

And then came the thigh-flashing! In the swinging 60s, she invested in many a babydoll dress, which she wore with elegant heels to make the most of those toned pins and of course, a magnificent hair-banded bouffant.

Elizabeth, we salute you. RIP

One style that I can say is very L.A and has still hardly caught on in the UK is the one feather earring.
I guess it relates to the L.A rock chick look which cannot be beaten anywhere else.

So I introduce to you www.ilovemishmash.com owned by my best friend in L.A Promise Gebreyohannes Simpson and Ingrid Mann.

The idea of Mish Mash is to not only create unique, individual pieces, but to also create pieces that are ethically fair and created with naturally shedded feathers embellished with stones, silver, leather and and coloured strings.

L.A - a land of so many talented people

L.A is a land of so many talented people... not only those that are in the 'industry' but also fashion, jewellery, make up and just a cool sense of style.

I truly am blessed to be circulated by such people. They are my inspiration and reason why I feel so fabulous living my life out here.  I often wonder if they see me in the same way as I see them but regardless, I want to share my talented people on my blog for others to see, learn and exchange information.

Graffiti art findings in LA

I'm sure most of you know who Banksy is, in a nutshell, the London graffiti artist, now millionaire and still no one knows what he looks like or who he is.

Banksy is famous not only for his controversial graffiti paintings but for his trademark logo the rat, which you will find all over London, particularly East London which is now a Banksy shrine.

Every morning on my way to the gym I see the below (Hauser and Wilshire). I'm not quite sure what it means or who it is by but I finally decided to take a picture of it....

I then came across this one on Monday (West 3rd St nr Alta Vista), which may I add is the perfect place for a first kiss after a date.

Being new to LA I am yet to discover if these are linked and if there are more. they may both be one
offs but so far I am intrigued....
